Sugarcane Commissioners from 3 states visit Sitapur villages to implement integrated web-based transparent system
Under the leadership of the Government of India, Sugarcane Commissioners from three sugarcane-producing states visited the villages of Sitapur district to implement the integrated web-based transparent system of the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App,' developed by the Sugarcane Department of Uttar Pradesh.
On August 13, a 17-member delegation engaged in direct dialogue with sugarcane farmers through the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App' at the end of their tour program.
The 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and 'e-Ganna App,' developed by the Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Department of Uttar Pradesh, aim to implement an integrated and transparent system in other states. To achieve this, a 17-member visiting delegation led by the Government of India, including Sugarcane Commissioners from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, visited the Dalmia Sugar Mill in the Ramgarh area of Sitapur district on August 13, 2024.
The delegation received insights into the integrated and transparent system for online sugarcane surveys, basic quota, basic contracts, sugarcane calendaring, determination and issuance of sugarcane slips, village-level survey and contract displays, amendments, sugarcane supply, formation of new committee members, and sugarcane price payment.
The visiting delegation observed the live demonstration of the grievance resolution process for farmers through the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App' at the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee and IT Center in Ramgarh, Sitapur district. They also monitored the swift resolution of farmers' issues through the online portal, focusing on ease, uniformity, transparency, effective monitoring, and control.
During this tour program, the Commissioner of Sugarcane and Sugar, Uttar Pradesh, conducted a question hour session to address theoretical and practical queries related to the implementation of the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App,' engaging with visiting delegation members from various states.
At the end of the program, the visiting delegation, under the leadership of the Government of India, was impressed and encouraged by the unprecedented work done in the interest of farmers through the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App' by the Sugarcane Department of Uttar Pradesh and sugar mills.
The program was attended by Mr Kunal Khemanar, Sugar Commissioner of Maharashtra, Mr MR Ravikumar, Commissioner of Sugarcane Development and Director of Sugar, Karnataka, and Mr B. Balamurugan, Additional Commissioner of Sugar, Tamil Nadu, along with their respective team members, under the leadership of the Government of India.
In the second phase of the program, a detailed analytical session on the 'Smart Ganna Kisan' portal and the 'e-Ganna App' will be organised under the chairmanship of the Commissioner of Sugarcane and Sugar, Uttar Pradesh, at the auditorium of the Sugarcane Farmers Institute, Lucknow, on August 14, 2024, with the visiting delegation from various states.
