'Lucknow Darshan' E-Bus Launched to Tour Heritage of the City of Nawabs
LUCKNOW: Tourists visiting the state capital can now explore major heritage and civic landmarks through a guided and eco-friendly experience with the launch of the ‘Lucknow Darshan’ double-decker electric bus service by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC).
The service, however, does not include parts of old Lucknow such as Bada Imambara, Rumi Gate and the Hussainabad Clock Tower due to low-clearance routes that restrict the movement of the high-roof bus.
The ‘Lucknow Darshan’ tour will operate daily in two rounds, morning and evening, starting from 1090 Chauraha in Gomti Nagar. The double-decker bus has a seating capacity of 66 passengers. Ticket prices have been fixed at Rs 500 for adults and Rs 400 for children aged between five and 12 years, with a 10 per cent introductory discount available till January 31.
Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the initiative combines electric mobility with a structured city tour, allowing visitors to experience Lucknow beyond its monuments and understand its urban, cultural and historical landscape.
Morning Tour Schedule
The morning tour will run from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, beginning at 1090 Chauraha. The route covers Raj Bhavan, GPO, Hazratganj, Begum Hazrat Mahal Park, Globe Park, The Residency and Chattar Manzil. It also includes an exclusive visit to the Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, followed by a drive along the Gomti Riverfront, a stop at UP Darshan Park, and return to 1090 Chauraha.
Evening Tour Schedule
The evening tour will operate from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Starting from 1090 Chauraha, the route passes through the Gomti Riverfront, UP Darshan Park, Raj Bhavan, Hazratganj, Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, Begum Hazrat Mahal Park, Globe Park, The Residency, Chattar Manzil, GPO and Christ Church, concluding at Food Valley.
The tour includes scheduled stops at UP Darshan Park, The Residency and exclusive entry to the Vidhan Sabha Bhavan. Entry tickets to The Residency and UP Darshan Park are included in the tour package, along with access to the Light and Sound Show at The Residency. Light refreshments will also be provided during the journey.
Key locations on the route include Ambedkar Memorial Park, Gomti Riverfront, Hazratganj, Raj Bhavan, Christ Church, Sibtainabad Imambara and Chattar Manzil, offering visitors a curated view of Lucknow’s administrative, cultural and historical spaces.
According to official data, Uttar Pradesh recorded 646.81 million domestic tourists last year, accounting for 21.94 per cent of the national share.
In November, UNESCO declared Lucknow a Creative City of Gastronomy during its 43rd General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, making it the second Indian city after Hyderabad to receive the recognition.
