Bahraich DM Monica Rani Receives Prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration
Bahraich: In a moment of immense pride for Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrate of Bahraich, Monica Rani, has been conferred with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2023. The award was presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 17th Civil Services Day celebration held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Bahraich emerged as the only district from Uttar Pradesh to be recognized under the category of “Overall Development of the District,” a testament to its exceptional performance in implementing flagship government schemes and ensuring inclusive growth across all sectors.
The award, instituted by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, acknowledges Bahraich’s outstanding achievements in the execution of 12 key central government schemes. These include Har Ghar Jal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban), Mission Indradhanush, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, among others. The district was lauded for its efficient redressal of public grievances, comprehensive coverage of welfare initiatives, and path-breaking programs such as the 'Seva se Saturation Abhiyan,' which has played a significant role in women’s empowerment and community involvement.
Also instrumental were initiatives like the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, which further accelerated the district’s development journey.
The selection process for the award is a rigorous five-stage procedure. It starts with a detailed evaluation of district applications against pre-defined metrics, verified against data from national portals. Shortlisted districts undergo direct beneficiary feedback, field assessments by central government officials, and final presentations before an Empowered Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary. The final recipients are approved by the Prime Minister himself. From over 750 districts across the country, only 10 were selected in this category, with Bahraich being the lone district representing Uttar Pradesh.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, DM Monica Rani dedicated the award to the people of Bahraich. She acknowledged the unwavering support of public representatives, the dedication of government officers, cooperation from the citizens, and the constructive role played by the media. “This honor reflects the collective vision, hard work, and commitment of every individual associated with Bahraich’s growth,” she stated.
The award marks a significant milestone in Bahraich’s developmental journey and sets a benchmark for excellence in governance and public administration.
