In a significant move to enhance tourism in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government is set to initiate a series of development projects aimed at upgrading amenities for tourists in Chitrakoot district, located in the culturally rich Bundelkhand region. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to transform Uttar Pradesh into an “excellent state” and accelerate its growth towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy.

Beautification of Ramghat: A Cultural Revival

One of the flagship projects under this initiative is the beautification and development of the iconic Ramghat tourist spot. With a budget allocation of ₹18.3 crore, the project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area while preserving its spiritual and historical significance. Ramghat is revered as the place where the legendary poet Goswami Tulsidas envisioned narrating the life of Lord Ram, making it a crucial site for both spiritual and cultural tourism.

A government spokesperson highlighted the objective behind this project, stating, “The project aims to create an example of cultural and urban transformation while preserving the spiritual and historical significance of the site.” This redevelopment plan is expected to attract not only domestic tourists but also international visitors, thereby boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities.

Enhancements Around Kalinjar Fort

In addition to the Ramghat beautification project, the government has also earmarked funds for enhancing tourist facilities around Kalinjar Fort in Banda. With an investment of ₹3.83 crore, this initiative aims to improve access and amenities for tourists visiting the historic fort, which is known for its breathtaking views and rich history.

Kalinjar Fort, with its ancient structures and scenic surroundings, has the potential to become a major tourist attraction in the region. The government’s investment in this area underscores its commitment to promoting heritage tourism, which is integral to the overall development strategy for Bundelkhand.

Salt Fort Developments in Mahoba

The initiative extends to Mahoba, where development projects are planned near the Salt Fort. A budget of ₹4 crore has been allocated for the development of parking and tourist amenities, with the project expected to be completed within nine months. The Salt Fort, which holds historical significance, is set to become more accessible and visitor-friendly, further enhancing the tourism landscape of Mahoba.

Tourist Facilitation Centre: A Central Hub for Visitors

To provide a seamless experience for tourists, a tourist facilitation centre is also in the works with an investment of ₹7 crore. This centre is designed to serve as a central hub for visitors, offering information, services, and assistance to enhance their travel experience in the region. The development of this centre is crucial as it will cater to the growing influx of tourists and provide them with necessary resources and guidance.

Temples of Char and Hamirpur: Additional Benefits

Moreover, the ongoing tourism development drive will positively impact significant religious sites, including the Somnath Temple in Char and the Pataleshwar Temple in Hamirpur. By improving infrastructure and amenities around these temples, the government aims to foster spiritual tourism, which holds immense potential in attracting pilgrims and tourists alike.

Execution by Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited

The execution of these ambitious construction and development works has been entrusted to the Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited, ensuring that the projects are carried out efficiently and effectively. The government's commitment to fostering tourism development in Chitrakoot division signifies a broader vision of revitalising the cultural and spiritual heritage of the state.

A Hub for Spiritual and Cultural Tourism

With the completion of these projects, Chitrakoot is poised to emerge as a hub for spiritual and cultural tourism, drawing visitors from across India and around the globe. The focus on enhancing tourist infrastructure is not just about boosting numbers but also about enriching the visitor experience, ensuring that tourists leave with lasting memories of their journey through this culturally rich landscape.
