Lucknow Metro has announced extended operational hours starting Monday, aimed at enhancing passenger convenience across the city. Commuters will now benefit from an extended service window, with trains running from 6 AM to 10:30 PM daily, as opposed to the previous closing time of 10:00 PM.

MD Emphasises Commitment to Passenger Convenience

The decision to extend operational hours reflects Lucknow Metro's commitment to providing efficient and reliable transportation services to the citizens of Lucknow. Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of Lucknow Metro, emphasised the metro's dedication to meeting passenger needs, stating that the extended timings will offer greater convenience and accessibility to a large number of commuters.

"This extension in operational hours is a result of our continuous efforts to understand and cater to the needs of our passengers," Kumar stated. "We believe that this initiative will not only accommodate more passengers but also contribute to making their travel experience smoother and more comfortable."

Revised Schedule Ensures Comfortable Travel

According to the revised schedule, the last metro train will depart from both terminals – Munshipulia metro station and CCS Airport metro station – at 10:30 PM. This adjustment ensures that passengers have ample time to reach their destinations comfortably, even during the later hours of the evening.

Lucknow Metro: Key Details and Infrastructure

The Lucknow Metro, operated by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), is a vital mass rapid transit (MRT) system in the city, boasting a frequency of services ranging from 5 to 7 minutes. Alongside other metro networks like Delhi Meerut RRTS, Meerut Metro, Noida-Greater Noida Metro, Kanpur Metro, and Agra Metro, it forms one of the five operational metro networks in Uttar Pradesh.

Third Largest Urban Transit System in Uttar Pradesh

Notably, the Lucknow Metro stands as the third largest urban transit system in Uttar Pradesh, following Delhi Meerut RRTS and Noida Metro. The construction of Phase 1A, which began in September 2014, marked a significant milestone in urban transportation in Lucknow. The 8.5 km stretch from Transport Nagar to Charbagh commenced commercial operations in September 2017, while the full operation on the Red Line stretch from CCS International Airport to Munshi Pulia began in March 2019.

Modern Infrastructure and Expensive Project

The project, known for its extensive scope and modern infrastructure, is also recognized as the most expensive transport system in Uttar Pradesh to date, with an estimated total cost for Phase 1A (Red Line) and 1B (Blue Line) reaching approximately $2 billion (Rs 6,928 crore allocated to Phase 1A alone).
